Whenever you hear “cowboy”, the first thing you will appear in your mind is that a cowboy wearing boots, hat, and sitting on the horseback in Spain, America, or Mexico.

Have you ever wondered if the origin of “cowboy wears”?

In the 60s, it says that Spain is the origin of cowboy boots, and designed boots for “Vaqueros” who works on the horseback. Boots’ construction is quite unique, and it’s made from leather of cow. The upper part includes body cover their calf/foot to avoid grass or brush, the stitching around it to hold the body up. The lower part has the heel cap to prevent the foot from slipping through and the heel cap shape is pretty important to distinct how the cowboy boot looks, finally the pointed toes to be easier to slip into the stirrups.

Mexican were affected and adapted Vaqueros boots to wear for working on the ranch. Spanish introduced their boots to the West of America and Europe in the early 18th century. They updated the decoration to create more designs such as the stitching line and custom designs to meet the different demands. Gradually, Cowboy boots became a symbol of American, representative for western footwear fashion and culture.

Cowboy Hat is also one of the symbols to recognize Western style. The cowboy hat has the rounded and curved brim, and the pinched crown. The shape of cowboy hat shows skill, meticulousness, culture, and emotion of the hat maker. In 1865, Stetson (established in Philadelphia, USA) is a very famous manufacturer making cowboy hat. The mainly materials are from beaver, rabbit, or wool fibers. Now, we have straw and felt. Cowboy hat is not only to prevent head from sunlight, but also an indispensable fashion accessory of Western Cowboy Style which became a headwear fashion for famous people until now, such as actors, musician, singer, farmer, fashionista, etc.
